Welcome to our Religious Education page
Religions that we are covering this year are:
Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism
At Holy Trinity we use the Lancashire Agreed Syllabus for RE which makes a clear and intended connection between RE and pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development which is connected to all four of the elements of the field of enquiry for RE, and centres on the exploration of the question ‘what does it mean to be human?’
The RE syllabus enables the teaching of RE to make a distinctive and significant contribution to these four aspects of pupils’ development. It provides a particular insight into spiritual and moral education within the curriculum, and makes a distinctive contribution to understanding society and cultural diversity through developing understanding of religions. It is a legal requirement to teach RE in all maintained schools.
Purpose and Aims of Religious Education
We believe that studying religious and non-religious worldviews is essential if pupils are to be well prepared for life in our increasingly diverse society. Pupils need to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to make sense of the complex world in which they live so that they can respect religious and cultural differences and contribute to a cohesive and compassionate society.
Our curriculum for Religious Education aims to ensure that all pupils know about and understand a range of religions and worldviews. Children will be given opportunities to to express ideas and insights about the nature, significance and impact of religions.
